Welcome to El-Obeid SAS 43rd Conference
Program At Glance   --  Scientific Program

Dear colleagues,

In the name of the Sudanese Association of Surgeons, I would like to welcome you all to our 43rd local conference (SAS 2017 – 2018 midterm) which will be hosted in the Northern Kordofan State, El-Obeid City in the period of March 22nd – 24th 2018.Dr Alaa Eldin Ahmed222

El-Obeid is a special city in our beloved country Sudan, one of the many reasons why our conference will be as special as its theme “TOWARDS SAFE SURGICAL PRACTICE”. We in SAS believe that in order to reach that goal in a scientific, structured and practical way, our current status should be acknowledged and publicized which is why we have distributed a questionnaire covering all aspects of surgical practice (ER, operating room, surgical ICU…etc) to the 18 different states of our beloved country, covering the capital of each state’s main hospital and its tributaries, the results of which will be presented on the first day of the conference.

On the second day our surgeons will outline the pillars and steps for the forward journey which we believe will not be an easy one but with ambition, dedication, hard work, knowledge and scarification Sudanese surgeons are known for, we will undeniably reach.

We also believe that we should unify in this noble job and that we are partners in sharing the responsibilities which is why we were keen to invite all the states’ Ministers of Health along with the Federal Minister of Health to attend our humble ceremony.

Besides, El-Obeid, the Bride of Sands, is a very famous city with much historical and cultural heritage to be discovered and largely appreciated.

We hope to see you there.

Mr. Alaaeldin Awad Nogoud
         Secretary General – SAS
         Head of Organizing Committee

The Sudan Association of Surgeons is one of the oldest medical professional associations in Sudan and in the whole of Africa and the Middle East, being established about 45 years ago. We hope you enjoy and benefit from the wealth of information you may find at this site.

Our Missions

The Sudan Association of Surgeons was developed as an active forum of discussion and debate for the general purpose of upgrading the surgical education, training and practice in Sudan.

In so-doing it relates to similar associations and societies regionally and internationally, and has memberships amongst several African and Arab Associations, such as the East African Association of Surgeons and the Pan-Arab Association of Surgeons.

Furthermore, with the growth of sister "Sudanese Surgical Associations" amongst Sudanese surgeons working abroad in various corners of the World, such as the Sudanese Association of Surgeons in UK & Ireland or the various Gulf Societies of Sudanese Surgeons, the SAS-Sudan acts as a Home-Land Link to all such associations and societies.
